eBay, the global online marketplace, has announced plans to hire personnel specialized in web3 technology to expand its NFT marketplace, KnownOrigin.
The company has listed several openings on LinkedIn, including Crypto Counsel, Head of Community, and Marketing Executive.
The Crypto Counsel position involves close collaboration with various departments, including taxation, intellectual property (IP), and security, within the company to provide legal guidance regarding NFTs, blockchain technology, and other related Web3 issues.
The Tech Lead position seeks a candidate with extensive experience in cloud services such as Google Cloud and AWS. The person has to create and implement protocols and digital systems that both KnownOrigin and eBay will utilize to develop NFTs and other cryptocurrency products across both platforms.
“KnownOrigin.io is an early Web3 pioneer, an NFT marketplace empowering a new generation of digital artists to express themselves, find an audience and earn a living from their passion,” wrote the company in the job post. “And they’re looking for like-minded enthusiasts to join them in their venture!”
Lay-off season
Interestingly, the hiring comes at a time when most web3 firms have either frozen hiring or laid off their workforce. Despite the bear market woes, eBay remains confident about the future of the NFT market.
Founded in 2018 by Andy Gray, David Moore and James Morgan, KnowOrigin enables artists and collectors to create, buy and resell NFTs. The global retailer eBay acquired NFT KnownOrigin in June 2022.
The acquisition aimed to revolutionize NFT transactions by bringing together the best web3 technology and eBay’s global reach. Last week, eBay announced a strategic partnership with fan engagement platform Notable Live to onboard NFT users.
